The original ‘HRD Coffee Shop’ opened in 1953.

In the years prior, the ‘Social Security Administration’ was housed across the street from our current 3rd street location, using the space as their ‘Human Resources Department’.

Once the Social Security Office had moved out of the neighborhood, the vacant space became available for lease. Consequently, it opened as a Coffee Shop, serving traditional American breakfasts, sandwiches, ice creams, and fountain drinks.

The proprietor, a newly arrived migrant from China, chose the acronym of Human Resources Department, HRD, as his newly created business name, and thus, HRD Coffee Shop was born.

Today, backed by SAIDYAN® GROUP, a Venture Capital and Investment Firm, HRD®, our patented trademark, is your home for ‘Global Fusion Food’ and a trusted source for the highest quality ingredients, backed by unparalleled customer service.
